PullCall

Download the companion

A small, free Windows app that lets me see your character and your last pull, so my advice fits what actually happened. It’s optional: I work in Discord without it. And you can read every line of it first.

What’s new in 0.4.0

PullCall Companion v0.4.0 for Windows: safe auto-update (checks once a day, verifies the SHA-256 before it installs), spellbook, keybind and XP-per-hour data for coaching, and the PullCall addon.

Read it before you run it

If you’re skeptical about running something on your PC, read the source. You should be. I’d rather you check than trust me, so the source code for every version sits right next to the app, with the same checksum treatment.

Exactly what the app does

  • It reads the data file my World of Warcraft addon saves (your character’s level, zone, quests, professions, reputations, bags and similar), when the game writes it on logout or /reload.
  • If you switch pull summaries on, it reads the game’s combat log and turns each pull into a small summary of a few kilobytes. The raw log never leaves your PC.
  • It sends those small summaries to pullcall.com. Nothing else.

Want to see it for yourself? The app can show you exactly what it would send without sending it, and it keeps a copy of the most recent uploads on your PC so you can always see what left your machine.

Where it connects

Only to pullcall.com, over HTTPS. No analytics, no update checks, no third parties. It refuses redirects, so it can’t be sent somewhere else.

What it never does

  • No keylogging. It doesn’t watch your keyboard or mouse.
  • No reading other programs, your files or your browser. Only the two game files above.
  • No game automation. It never presses keys or moves your character.
  • No injecting into the game, and no reading the game’s memory.

How to check your download

  1. Compare the SHA-256 checksum. In PowerShell, run Get-FileHash .\<file name> -Algorithm SHA256 in the folder you downloaded to. The result must match the checksum shown above, character for character. If it doesn’t, delete the file and tell me.
  2. When a VirusTotal report link is shown above, open it to see what dozens of antivirus engines think of this exact file.
  3. Windows SmartScreen may warn you with “Windows protected your PC”, because the app isn’t code-signed yet. If the checksum matches, click More info, then Run anyway.

How to uninstall

  1. Quit the app from its tray icon, or close its window.
  2. Disconnect it from your account: open Connected companions on your account page and click Revoke. Delete any synced data there too, if you like.
  3. Delete the folder you unzipped it into.
  4. Delete its settings folder, %APPDATA%\PullCall, and the addon folder Interface\AddOns\PullCall inside your World of Warcraft folder.

There’s no installer and no background service. The app only runs while it’s open, in its window or in the tray. For what the companion sends and how long I keep it, see my Privacy Policy and what I hear, keep and never keep.
